The Tannat
grape has adapted magnificently to the Uruguayan soil and climate since the
end of the XIX century; this grape has its origin in France.
Nowadays, The
Tannat wine is an Uruguayan specialty, more even that its origins in the
French red wines.
The Uruguayan Tannat wines have more than 100 years old, increasing in their
production and they have its own personality.
Tannat makes a red wine of intense purple red color with violet tones; they
have the aroma of red fruits and spices. |
The
Uruguayan Tannat wine has a full body, a strong structure with the highest
levels of tannin possible in the red wines (an excellent benefit for the
health of this type of red wine); its mouth is potent and the finish is long
and pleasant.
A 100% Tannat varietal or blended with
Merlot,
Cabernet Sauvingnon or
Cabernet Franc contributes with a particular richness with its complexity
and good body.
Tannat wines are also matured in French oak barrels and American oak barrels
to obtain Reserve Tannat wines, giving a strong wine with high personality
which will surprise you.
Tannat is recommended with red meats or strong cheeses.
Ideal serving temperature for consumption is 18° to 20°C (64° to 68°F) |
